Out of the Darkness Community Walks
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk took place in November of 2014. With my mom being a board member of AFSP, my family and I were able to volunteer this year! This memorial walk was around 3 miles long and took place in Downtown LR. Families were able to travel with their dearest friends and families in remembrance of their lost loved ones. As everyone came together to support suicide awareness and prevention, it was a bonding experience among all who participated. After the walk, families shared stories, read poems, and sang songs in memory of those who died by suicide.
This community campus walk took place at UALR. The walk promoted the schools program "Come Talk to Me", which was established by UALR counselors. My sweet princess, Maurin, came to support me at this walk, as well as helped set up the inspirationally decorated paper bags. Maurin helped us put lights in them to make a glowing walkway for all of the campus kids to see, as they walked in loving memory.
