More Than Sad: Preventing Teen Suicide
More Than Sad is a suicide prevention program created by AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) to help students understand the growing problem of suicide. It is geared toward our growing youth, aged 13-17. This program features a short video of 4 teens who suffer from thoughts of suicide and depression, showing ways that they find help and learn to live a wholesome lifestyle. Its purpose is to educate teens on the signs and symptoms among their peers, or themselves, suffering from depression and ways they can get involved with their community in a healthy way, promoting the importance of seeking help.
"More Than Sad: Preventing Teen Suicide addresses risk factors and imminent signs of suicide. The clear, meaningful content, including interviews with teachers, is very relevant for the personal and environmental issues that our students face today. I highly recommend this excellent resource for schools." —Dr. Patti Harrison, president, National Association of School Psychologists
